Sourcing

The DT Group sourcing organisation reports to Wolseley Europe and is set up to work across the geographic markets. Organised under European Sourcing, the organisation handles all purchasing, import and private label tasks for Wolseley Europe. The European sourcing organisation has more than 60 employees and is in charge of all supplier contracts and sourcing.

Wolseley Europe follows a sourcing strategy, which focuses on efficient collaboration with a number of strategic and preferred suppliers in Europe. The strategy contributes to significant pan-European cost savings on the buying side, better prices, a higher service level for the Group’s customers and advantages to the suppliers selected by the Group. At the same time, DT Group’s product range and competitive position is being improved through the increased import of products through our own sourcing offices.

The Group’s sourcing offices in Russia, China, Brazil and the Baltic States know local market conditions and manufacturers well and handle contact with the Group’s suppliers on the remote markets.

One of the effects of these efforts is more efficient productions of the Group’s private label. The private label department reports to the DT sourcing organisation.

Wolseley Europe’s sourcing function is divided into heavy-side products and light-side products, each side headed by a senior director of European Sourcing. In each category sourcing groups have been organised with a European sourcing director and a number of product managers from Wolseley’s European entities.

The list below show the tasks we, among others, are engaged in:

• Suggesting and coordinating the Group’s sourcing strategies
• Securing a well-defined decision model, which ensures the contractual basis
• Developing goals and strategies for group sourcing
• Negotiating with suppliers on the signing of an agreement valid in all our European markets
• Tending to suppliers and ongoing follow-up of supplier agreements
• Production of market information
• Brands
